Community Action Against Non-communicable Diseases (COMAAND) Flag-off

Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) are usually caused by genetic or lifestyle factors. Four types of NCDs – Cardiovascular Diseases, Cancers, Diabetes and Chronic Respiratory Diseases – account for almost two-thirds of all deaths globally, with 80 per cent of these occurring in low- and middle-income countries.

COMAAND is an initiative of Society for Public Health and Social Development. It is an expression of our conviction and desire to be of help to the many in view of the challenges posed by these NCDs and other life problems.

Prof. Joseph John Campbell, American mythologist, writer and lecturer, said: “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.”
