Society for Public Health and Social Development in collaboration with the Awkuzu Medical Team under the guidance of His Royal Highness (HRH) Igwe Sir (Prof.) Charles Anikweze Nnamenyi III Igwe Awkuzu on 28th December organized a medical outreach aimed at identifying the elders in the Awkuzu community in Oyi local government area of Anambra State, Nigeria with health problems focusing on non- communicable diseases such as hypertension, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, visual problems and rheumatoid arthritis. Up to 300 people aged 80 years and above were reached.

In keeping with our Mission of ensuring that individual members of the community live in total physical, mental and social well-being, we undertake periodic Supportive Supervisory visits to Health Facilities and BP Commanders in some rural communities.
High Blood Pressure cases have been reported in both old and young though the latter group is not supposed to have hypertension. At least not as a consequence of aging, which is the most common cause of hypertension.
Hence we do not relent in the quest of realizing our vision of being present in every community in Nigeria to impact positively on their physical, mental and social well-being and thereby increase
life expectancy of each community and that of the entire country above the average African value.
